Russ Weis

Born in Madera, California, Russ grew up working in the family vineyards. His career in fine wine has taken him all over the globe. He moved to Napa Valley in 1981 to attend Pacific Union College. After graduating, he was fortunate to travel to many countries studying, teaching, and skiing. In 1987, Russ returned to Napa Valley, beginning his career at Christian Brothers Winery. Later, for International Distillers & Vintners, Russ managed Global Sales and Marketing for iconic wineries such as Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyards. In 1993, Russ joined Robert Mondavi Winery holding positions including Director of Public Relations for Opus One and finally, Senior Vice President of International Business Development. In 2004, he joined Silverado Vineyards where he is President. He has twice served as President of The Stags Leap District Winegrowers Association and was Chairman of the Napa Valley Vintners. He has also served on the Boards of various non-profits including the Napa Valley Symphony, and he was the founding Honorary Chair of the Oakland Wine Festival. (www.silveradovineyards.com)

Janet Fletcher

Janet Fletcher is the author or co-author of nearly 30 books on food and beverage, including Cheese & Wine, Cheese & Beer and The Cheese Course. Janet publishes the weekly Planet Cheese blog and is the cheese columnist for Specialty Food and Somm Journal magazines. Trained at the Culinary Institute of America and at Chez Panisse, Janet teaches cooking and cheese-appreciation classes around the country. Her journalism has received three James Beard Awards and the IACP Bert Greene Award, and her food writing has appeared in numerous national publications, including The New York Times, Saveur, Fine Cooking and Food & Wine.
